Current Requests for Proposals

The Marksbury Family Foundation is seeking to collaborate with innovative, leading nonprofits to fund creative, financially self-sustaining projects that result in economic growth opportunities for the organization, individuals, and/or communities.

 

To be considered:

  1. The non-profit must have a 501c3, 501a(1), or 501a(2) government issued status.
  2. Projects must be located in Central Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, or the Charleston, SC area.
  3. The project must result in economic development and/or growth opportunities for individuals and/or communities.
  4. Outcomes and impact must have measurable results.
  5. Projects must be financially self-sustaining in the long-term.
  6. The total requested amount cannot exceed $50,000.
  7. If the project’s total budget exceeds the grant amount, a minimum of 75% of remaining funding must be raised before funds can be pledged from us.

We are looking to fund:

One-time purchase items, examples include but are not limited to:

  • Technology equipment and software.
  • Building and property renovations.
  • Research studies for cases of funding, feasibility reports, etc.

 

We do not fund:

  • Capital campaign debts.
  • Religious or politically affiliated causes.
  • Programmatic costs.
  • Salaries.
  • Any other year to year expense items.

 

Other

  • If the total grant amount is more than $25,000 the grant will be paid in a schedule over a two-year minimum period.
  • Grants of $50,000 are the exception, the average grant size is $10,000 —
    $15,000.

 

Lead Donor Search

The Marksbury Family Foundation is looking to collaborate with non-profits that want to expand; whether it be through establishing a new program, new building space, or new geographical area. We are looking to be the lead donor on projects in which the overall budget falls between $1mm – $5mm.

To be considered:

  1. The non-profit must have a 501c3, 501a(1), or 501a(2) government issued status.
  2. Projects must be located in Central Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, or the Charleston, SC area.
  3. The project must result in economic development and/or growth opportunities for individuals and/or communities.
  4. Outcomes and impact must have measurable results.
  5. Projects must be financially self-sustaining in the long-term.

 

Please note: We are not currently committing to new lead donor projects, all funding is currently pledged, we are open to taking ideas for future projects (2030 and beyond).
